Conference Activities

As part of our conference programme, we have organised additional conference activities for delegates that explore the cities rich naval and literary heritage.

All additional activities can be booked via the University of Portsmouth online store when registering.

Please note places are limited and will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis. If you have not booked a place in advance, and decide you would like to participate in one of the below activities, please speak to the registration staff upon arrival. You will be offered a place if one is available, subject to cash payment of the relevant fee.

Nelson Trail Guided Walk – £5 per person

Wednesday 1st April 2020, departing from Portland Building at 10.45, or meet at Portsmouth Museum for the tour start at 11.15.

This guided walk takes you through parts of the old town of Portsmouth, highlighting places and buildings of interest relating to Vice Admiral Lord Nelson and Portsmouth around the time of the Battle of Trafalgar.

Follow the last steps of Admiral Horatio Nelson, uncovering the places and buildings that Nelson would have passed through and visited before he boarded HMS Victory.

Portsmouth Harbour Tour – £10 per person

Friday 3rd April 2020, 14:00, departure from Portland Building.

Cruise around Portsmouth Harbour and the Historic Dockyard to view the modern Royal Navy, historic fortifications, and areas of natural beauty.

The tour lasts for approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour.
